Because of my reluctance to ingest Red 40, I am not as excited about this announcement as I would like to be, but for those of you that have no concerns about artificial dyes, this is very exciting. Back in 2013, I did my Chocolate Graveyard entry about my favorite M&M’s variety, Crispy M&M’s. Introduced in 1999, I ate these M&M’s for years before they took them off the shelf in 2005 and replaced them in 2010 with Pretzel M&M’s, a sad substitute, and deceptively wearing the Crispy M&M’s color (they took on the blue packaging AND were represented by the Orange M&M in the U.S., while the Orange M&M continued to represent Crispy in the rest of the world). Well, recently, M&M’s have announced that Crispy is back, and wearing a new outfit.
Part of me wants to run to the store and pick up a bag right now, but the more reasonable part of me knows I would hate myself for eating them. Still, I may be able to have some sent from another country (though they have retained their place on the market in other countries, so nothing has changed there). If you have never had these though, I highly recommend them. I used to bite or suck off the chocolate and then eat the crispy center, but eat them however you see fit. I will live vicariously through everyone else.
Have you tried them? Let me know what you think. Also, if you remember them from the days of old, let me know if they are the same or different now.
