WHAT?! A tea on a chocolate blog. YES! There are chocolate flavored teas. Funny thing is, I usually do not like them…at least…I do not when I purchase them to make at home, which may mean the fault is in my preparation rather than the product itself.
HOWEVER! A couple of months ago, I was sitting at the airport, waiting for an early morning flight, with no cold chocolate drinks on the airport Starbucks menu (though they probably could have made it still), and I discovered Argo Tea. Now, when I first tried Argo, I tried a hibiscus blend, shying away from the chocolate options due to my aforementioned prior chocolate flavoured tea experiences.
Then yesterday, I happened to notice that an Argo had opened in Evanston, which is only 10-15 minutes from where I work. After looking at the menu online, I decided to go and try their seasonal drink: White Frostea Chocolate (see image below for ingredients).
Of course, Argo being awesome, always has a sample to try when you go in, and being that the White Frostea chocolate is a special, of course that was the sample. So I was lucky enough to try the drink first, and it is delicious. It really tastes just like drinking a warm Snow Drift. It has the flavoring and temperature of a Peppermint Hot Chocolate, but it is lighter and has just the faintest taste of the white tea.
My only regret, is that this drink is only seasonal. I guess I shall have to have my fill of the White Frostea Chocolate while I can and then switch to the Chocolate Mint Tea (looks similar, but with Dark Chocolate).
Damn…my cup is almost empty.
